What does Settings/Multiple Encoder Processes do?

For instance, with the HC encoder under HC Settings//Quality/Speed Selection, you can chose FAST, NORMAL, OR BEST. Under Settings/QuEnc Settings you can chose Normal Quality or High Quality and you can chose Two Pass VBR Encode. How does checking Multiple Encoder Processes differ from these kind of settings? I didn't see this option discussed in the RB Help files.

It's for use mainly with dual-core processors or systems that have more than one processor. During the encoding it will split the segments across each of the available processors and significantly reduce the amount of time it takes to encode (with HC, QuEnc, etc.).

It also helps on some fast processors that support hyperthreading.

Does this work with hyperthreading + AQE?

Yes. You should test and see how much of an increase you'll get though.

Hi jdobbs,
Oh OK. That's good to know. I have an old Pentium 4 HT machine I use for backing up sometimes.
