Freeware MKV authoring tools

Please tell me a list of good free DVD and MKV authoring tools, that can:


1. has a wyswig interface

2. create, edit menus

3. add chapters, remove them

4. add tracks, both audio, video and subs

5. has a gui track syncher

6. can cut, join, mux files

7. that has support for lots of formats(say, with help of vlc/mplayer/directshow)

8. that can import files for use as chapters, sub chapters, etc

9. that can ezport/impoet to and from mkv files

10. dvd/vob support optional.

please, you have posted more new threads in a few days than most people do in six months. This should be telling you something! Instead of posting a new thread for every question, why not take some time to do the research yourself.

As to this particular question, there is no 'mkv authoring' tool that meets all the points you mention. You should investigate mkvmerge of the mkvtoolnix package.

and as for mkv, i researched long enough. I feel kindda unnerved that there is no such program. this may very well be new idea for a new program:helpful:

So let me get this straight - you have all these requirements and basically you want somebody to write a software specifically for you? You know how it goes, if it doesn't exist, you do it on your own or you pay somebody to do it. Take your pick. Naturally doing it on your own will involve a lot more searching and frustrating moments but that's the nature of the game.

You could start with avidemux, which has about 2/3 of those in the bag already. Sharpen up your C++ skills and lay in; I'm sure that if you could graft multiple timelines onto avidemux it would overnight turn into the most popular video editor, and you'd be a hero. But the authors are a long way from that stage currently. =p
