View Full Version : Does the .IFO determine the AC3 delay?

When AutoGK uses DGIndex to demux the audio and create the DELAY AC3 file from a set of VOBs, what determines the value of the delay? Is that value set or read somewhere from the IFO?
If so, can the IFO be edited before running AutoGK so that the sound can be exactly "spot on" and synced with the video. Often, I'm not satisfied with the results. I'd like to use MPC to determine the exact delay.
I realize I can always resync with the resultant AVI, but I would much prefer to edit the IFO that is fed to AutoGK if that is at all possible with IFOedit.

It's not determined from the IFO.
When DGIndex finds the first I frame in the project it then looks for the first audio access unit after that point in the stream. Then it starts outputting both streams from those points. The PTS timestamps are obtained for those access units and their difference is the delay.

Hmm. Ok thanks. Then, I don't suppose there would be a quick and dirty way to modify the time stamps in the VOB files somehow, would there?
I was just reading that the next best way to sort this out would be to use DVDshrink in re-author mode if the DVD isn't using one of the latest encryption tehcniques, but I don't see how this would affect the output of AutoGK.

Ask manono about this. He's an (A)GK guru. I can't believe there isn't a way to override or specify the delay.

Hi,
Lots of threads on this issue to "see"
Result is, it works, that's why it is incorporated in the MoreFAQ, see 2.14.
Please test by yourself, you are welcome to report test resulting problems if any.
Last it can be combined:
- Rip/decrypt with RipIt4Me or more recent decrypting utility (need to have compliant DVD structure like R4me does even with the movie only mode)
- If still audio delay feed that rip in DvdShrink re-author mode
- Feed the resulting in AutoGK
Oh yes Manono and Jggimi are the AGK gurus, I'm just a contributor :)
