TMPGEnc Plus and avi sound

If anyone has any insight on the problem below I’d appreciate the help. I am in the middle of switching to a new computer, which brings all sorts of problems concerning codecs, apps, etc… I use TMPGEnc Plus to encode a lot of avi’s to DVDs. Recently I’ve run into this problem: when I check the audio in the source range window (just to make sure it’s there) for an avi that I have, on the new computer it’s completely flat. Yet when I check that same avi on the old computer, the sound shows up in the source window. Please note that I am not using a wav file generated out of something like VirtualDub as a separate sound source—I am using the avi file itself. Gspot says the audio in the avi is VBR.
What am I missing on the new computer that is making/preventing the sound from showing up? Thank you for any hints or advice.

Hi!I am using the avi file itself. Gspot says the audio in the avi is VBR.1) Did you apply VBR audio when you created the .AVI of this movie from the original source material (Presumably a commercial DVD)?

2) If I remember correctly TMPGEnc and its siblings don't "like" VBR audio

3) If your original source material is a commercial DVD, why don't you just make a backup directly?

4) Load the .AVI into GSpot and post a screen capture back here...

No worries, it seemed to be an issue with divx codec, as I installed the free divx 5 codec and problem went away. Thank you anyways.
