hi guys. im pretty new to this dvdripping thing, since i've only used autogk until now. i've tried using this guide (http://www.rita.lt/guides/GKnot_DVDtoAVI.htm) to make a few dvdrips. the problem is, the output .avi always turns out to be around 300mb big. i've tried many times, but i always get the same result. i've read that undersized/oversized topic, but i must admit i dont understand it quite clearly, since im new to most of the settings. anyway, here are some pics of my configuration:

Under Options, set the Profile @ Level to unrestricted for both passes and try another encode. If that fails, uninstall Xvid, find and delete xvid.ax and xvid.dll files, then reinstall Xvid.

Hi,

Thanks for the info, what I was not seeing is that it is Gordian Knot related (and not AutoGK), so I am afraid I will have to pass as I am an AGK user only, sorry.

CWR03, i dont know how to thank you. i've created the perfect rip with ac3 audio, and a 0% AR error. i'll do a few more, but im pretty sure that was the trick. THANX A MILLION!

well, i guess i was just lucky on that one. the others come out undersized :/ i think the target size on the 2nd pass is wrong.

Settings

i didnt change that. the entire movie came out 1.434.871.808 big (CD1: 732.108.480 | CD2: 702.879.774). what to change?

The target size under the Xvid settings are irrelevant. The output size will be controlled by Gordian Knot.

Please post your logfile.

I don't know what the hell I'm doing wrong. Every rip, different results. Especially when I'm trying to do a 2CD rip. I'm going insane!
For instance, I did a rip of the movie Escape from Alcatraz and it came out fine, but I forgot to tick the 'Split to CDs' option, so i did another one with the exact same settings but this time the 'Split' option was ticked. What happend? The splitted rip came out 300mb big. Here are the logs from both encodes.

CWR03, would you be willing to share your config file? Because I'm really loosing my mind over this. I've done atleast 20 rips, everyone a different size.

I feel your pain and am wrestling with the same issue right now. If I get it ironed out, I'll be sure to let you know.
