I have made a number of .avi' backups from my DVDs that range in size between 1.5 gig to 2.6 gig.
Unfortunately I have found my stand alone player works best with files below 1 gig.

eg. I have one 1.4 gig movie .avi
that would now be 700mb CD 1 file and 700mb CD 2 file.

Therefore I was hoping to have AutoGK make the .avi files it made into CD sizes - Is there any easy way to do this?

thanks,

Yes, use the 2CD/3CD settings. You can also split them manually using VirtualDubMod.

thanks for the answer. Just curious - will redoing them in AutoGK with the CD splits cause the quality to deteriorate?

If by "redoing" you're referring to reencoding your previously encoded .avi, yes, it will lose a lot of quality. You should definitely go back to the DVD, in which case your new encodes should look as good as the first attempt.

Just reviewing AutoGK, it seems that when it splits the avi file to CD sizes it does it at the end of its processing - ie it takes an AVI file and then splits it using Vdubmod with some filters or something.

So, is there any way to to do this retrospectively? I would not think the avi would need to be re-encoded as thats how AutoGK does it anyway.
Does anyone know this?

how did you make the 1.4gig avi in the first place?
if you used agk, then it would have split them automatically. (you get both 2 split files and the big one)
