Howto set thread priority permanently

Is there anyway to set thread priority for a program, I would like to set my PVR scheduling programs (Winfast PVR) thread priority, I do this manually, but of course when a schedule launches and I'm not around I cannot.

You can use a batch file:

cmd /c start /[priority] application.exe

Priority is LOW, BELOWNORMAL, NORMAL, ABOVENORMAL, HIGH, REALTIME

so far my batch files have failed
below are the two I've tried and for the first one I get the error

"Cannot find c:\program please check etc
the second one I get the error

"Cannot find wftv.exe please check etc etc

cmd /c start /HIGH C:\Program Files\WinFast\WFTVFM\WFTV.exe

cmd /c start /HIGH WFTV.exe

Firstly, I'm guessing you're using Winfast PVR2, which covers all Leadtek's tv tuners including old analogue to the new digital models? version 2.0.2.17? An option that has been available for a long time with it is 'high priority'. Just right hand click on the picture and check 'high priority'. It stays like that even with scheduled recordings etc. Its best to use 'silent recording' option, I have found, seems to be flawless even if you're doing heavy work in the background (I have even maxed the disk load on the drive it was recording to and have had no problems, like I thought I would have). It also uses much less cpu, and if it has a hardware encoder it uses basically none (varies between 0 and 1 percent cpu load). Just make sure with the leadtek codec under video options you have 'hardware acceleration' enabled as default (its not enabled as default as it disables the colour settings in the programme) as you can change the brightness etc afterwards.

You need double quotes when there are ambiguous characters (like spaces) in a filename

But like I said, with Winfast PVR2, you don't need to worry about any of that. Once high priority is selected from the menu it stays selected. If its not there you are using a very, very old version of the programme!

Word of warning.. if anyone decides to update to the latest Winfast PVR I'd suggest avoiding the latest driver as far as the PVR2000 is concerned ... the update link lists that it is for XP but has vista in the file name .. it is exactly the same file on every download location and the same file when you use the link for vista ... it causes corruption of the sound and eventually no sound at all .... even when you use the leadtek uninstaller available from their web site it was impossible to revert or rollback to the old driver .. in the end I used a 3 month old image of my system to restore things to workable .. I then proceeded to to install a dvt2000h along side the pvr2000 which is working well with Winfast pvr2...
