Need help with XviD encode to be playable on PMP-911A!

Hello. I have a PMP-911A that can play XviD AVI files (link to the player with picture and specs: http://www.pticn.com/ProductShow.asp?id=282 )

It comes with .AVI files default on it's flash-memory. I used GSpot to see how they are encoded (screenshot of the file cat.avi in GSpot here):

I tried to encode some videofiles to XviD AVI format, but it never works perfectly on the player. The player supports up to 320x240. The results i have had with my encodes have been:

1. Video is running (with wrong aspect ratio) but no sound.

2. Only sound and no video at all.

I tried some encoders and encoderpacks including Auto Gordian Knot but with no 100 % success.

The 2 .AVI files that are default on the memory (one of the files that i loaded in GSpot on the picture above) both run perfectly on the player. I'm a beginner at XviD encoding.

If anyone can help me by looking at the GSpot picture of the .AVI file that is working good and/or have personal experience with the PMP-911A player (or similar players), I would really appreciate it!

It'd be easier if you upload one of the files that come with it, so we can open it and find the exact options it uses. GSpot isn't enough to tell. For starters though, try setting Xvid to Simple Profile (not Advanced) so that all the advanced features are disabled, and see if that plays.

I had some problems with doom9 forums yesterday and could not check this thread.

I did some more tests and made good results with the DivX option in Xilisoft Video Converter 3.1. I did some manual settings, 320x240 resolution and 20 frames/second with 22khz 64kbit MP3 stereo audio.

With those settings i get both video and audio without skipping etc. It isn't the best quailitywise, but it works. The player is quite crappy anyway, bought it cheap in China. Plays NES/GB games, MP3, photos and has a decent camera + now it plays kinda crappy quality xvid/divx too.

If someone else has a similar player and needs help they can check this thread and they might solve their problem.

Great work on pulling the original avi as you seen i posted a tut for these little ******. foxyshadis is sooo correct would be nice if you can rar or zip that avi that came on it so we can look at it i could make you a preset for vdub so you can get it done. Also i seen you read my tut i wrote for the Rockwell chip players. try that out see how it comes out. btw them chips are very cheap so you gotta keep the bitrate as low as possable on your encodes alot of people mess up there. if you need help just post here or on my tut
