It was my greatest error - I played around with some of the adminscripts installed together with the Microsoft webserver (IIS 5) to have more than one website on my laptop.
That worked for some days but for unknown reason it stopped and was always saying 'www publishing service could not be started. Procedure not found'.
My laptop has all of the nessessary patches from Windows update, but the system recovery function is disabled to speed up this poor 450 MHz Pentium 3 machine so I cannot undo what I had initially done.
Uninstall, reinstall, rebuild, cleaning up the metadata or deleting it did not cure my webserver. Uninstall and reinstall was the information from Microsoft knowledge base, the second advice was to rebuild the metadata database - I did all of that, but the error remains.
I think there are some files left on the hard drive, but I don't know where to find, maybe there are also some remains in the registry.
Is there anybody who can help me?
