Downmix 5.1 to stereo

Hi all,

How do i downmix from a 5.1 source .. e.g. pcm to 2 channel in linux ?
Any command line utilities available ?

I think you can use gstreamer to do that... how i don't know...

MPlayer (and probably ffmpeg) will do it, but I'm not sure about downmixing a PCM 5.1 source; there may be problems with channel assignment. AC3, DTS or AAC sources should work fine.

For example:
mplayer -channels 2 -ao pcm:file=output.wav input.ac3

I dont' know via cline, but with Avidemux: audio -> filters -> mixer
