Compressing Videos with a lot of Noise

hi, i have a quite specific problem

my digicam (its a photocam, not a video cam) can record mjpeg videos in 640x480. thesere are really noisy and big (700mb for 3 minutes or so)
i want to recompress them to something more convenient.
is there any way to still get decent results despite the noise? it really seams to kill compressability of the movies :/

DeGrainMedian, FFT3D(Filter/GPU), FluxSmoothST for denoising, HDRAGC for gain correction, LimitedSharpenFaster, SeeSaw for sharpening etc are good places to start..
