View Full Version : Can't Get DVDFAb Decrypter HD to Work

For whatever reason DVDFAb Decrypter HD won't rip my blu ray discs anymore. When I originally downloaded it, it worked with no problem. Now, all of a sudden it won't recognize my blu ray discs anymore. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix the issue. I have set it to blu ray down at the bottom, I have the most recent version of the program, have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hi!

Is it not working NOW with BluRay DVDs that it PREVIOUSLY worked with - or is it just not working with NEW releases that you are trying to backup for the FIRST time?

I tried it with new Blu Ray discs and Blu Ray discs that I decrypted with it before.

DVDFAb Decrypter does not have a new Host Private Key because we haven't found/released it yet. Therefore they cannot "automatically" retrieve VIDs. In fact we have to do some manual stuff too right now using vid.exe or dumpvid.exe in order to get towards a VUK.

Keep in mind that unlike AnyDVD they do not do their own key-finding/hacking. Its (from some analysis) pretty obvious they even use code from us/me. I have no problem with that (since I released into Public Domain) but given that fact don't expect DVDFAb Decrypter to always be on top of things.

But I applaud every program that decrypts AACS. :)

Its called explicit revocation: if you bought new discs they contain an instruction for your drive to not talk to PowerDVD 7.1 anymore. DVDFab is essentially identifying itself as PDVD 7.1 and therefore cannot talk to your drive (when it comes the "secret" VID) anymore.

You can still decrypt your disc with dumpvid.exe + aacskeys.exe + DumpHD though (if you have the latest and AACS upgraded Power DVD 7.3). Its not very user friendly atm but it'll do the job. And once you got the keys (and post them) it gets a lot easier for others who have the same movie.

Because you played back / decrypted a MKB v3 Disc which revoked the Host Certificate which DVDFab Decrypter is using.

I don't know exactly what that means, but ok. I did start using anydvd hd at one point, but wanted to go back to dvdfab hd decrypter because I was having a problem DTS audio and wondered if dvdfab could do the job for me.

I don't think I am up to par for using dumpvid.exe-a bit out of my league. But thanks for the suggestion. At least I know what is going on now. Hi maya,

In short, you inserted new Blu-ray disc with new version of AACS protection, so old key is revoked, then DVDFab HD stops working.

We will add a new method to make DVDFab HD work, if you have PowerDVD 7.3 installed, and you can use it to play your new disc.

DVDFab HD decryption engine is based on doom9 members' great work: Muslix64, arnezami, ATARI Vampire, etc. Thank you all!

I have Powerdvd, but find it to be a pain, I just use Nero Showtime, and it works great for everything. Where and when should I check up for a new version of DVDfab HD?

The problem is that the revokation (don't give out the information anymore if program x is asking for) is stored inside the drive, so changing OS or so doesnt help. There is nothing you can do about it. Enjoy the power and user friendlyness of the HD-World (AACS).
