Hi All
I have a problem in that, since doing a periodical reinstall of XP Pro, I can no longer get AutoGK to accept an Input File Name. I have previously successfully used AutoGK to convert videos for use on my MP4 player, but now, following exactly the same process, it won't work.
After using DVD Decrypter to rip the dvd to my HD (IFO) mode, whenever I select the 1st VOB file as the input file in AutoGK and click open, I end up with a blank input file field. It just won't allow me to enter an input file.
I'm not well versed in the intricacies of video and dvd. Can anyone help and tell me what stupid little thing I'm doing wrong?
Cheers

you shouldnt load a .vob file. you should load the ...0_01.ifo

Thankyou Fish Tank....of course you are right. I got myself confused between Auto GK and the small program used to load the video onto my player. My apologies
The problem I should have described with AutoGK is that when I load the IFO file into the Input File field I get an error message "Error parsing IFO file" and it won't accept the file.
I have searched this site for a solution but haven't been successful.
Is the problem with AutoGK or with DVD Decrypter? I have no idea what's going wrong.

hmm never had that myself, so i dont know. :/
can you load it into another tool like dvdshrink to see if
the ifo/vobs are ok?
sounds like there went something wrong when you ripped
the dvd. just guessing here, sorry.

Hi,
AutoGK accepts .ifo or .vob files, see FAQ 1
If no good, as already stated, your ripping/decrypting process may be bad, rip and try again, or rip/decrypt for DvdShrink to see if better result (DvdShrink re-author mode output is a perfect input for AGK).

Thanks BigDid
I've tried DVDShrink, DVDDecrypter, DVDFabDecrypter and a number of other ripping progs, all with the same result.
I've also uninstalled and reinstalled all of them and AutoGK, each time with the same result.
I even thought it might have someting to do with the DVDs themselves and have tried encrypted and unencrypted discs, all to no avail. I also tried DVDs I have previously successfully processed using DVDDecrypter and AutoGK. Nothing works.
I'm puzzled as to why it used to work, but doesn't now.
Thanks for your suggestions anyway.
Are there any suggestons for other software to convert from DVD to avi using xvid and mp3 settings?

Hi,
From what I read, all your tests are made on the same computer, you might want to clean install and try on another computer to narrow the issues.
For other programs similars but no identical :) to AutoGK, see the Mpeg-4 encoder GUIs section: http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=78
Lots of them, an easy one: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=125085
but still in development
More powerful and mature: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=113811
Pick up your choice.
