I downloaded the almost complete Heroes (Hint encode) first season in an mkv container an x264 video stream and ac3 5.1 audio stream. So far I have used mkvextract to demux the audio and video. I then used Besweet and Nero's AAC encoder (using transcode preset) to recode the audio to a stereo LC AAC audio file. I then used Yamb to mux the audio and video into an mp4 container. Playing through vlc though the audio is out of sync and progressively gets worse as the movie plays (at least in VLC) despite the fact the original played flawlessly. Before muxing the original and recoded audio have exactly the same length so I don't understand what's the problem. There has got to be an easier way to get an x264 mkv to play on the 360, any advice as to what could be wrong?
