for some reason i can't preview anything after i run the prepare phase, i can manually slide the slider but it won't preview any vts's, there is no image at all.. i am using 1.25 which i hoped would fix the problem but it doesn't..

it works just fine on my other computer, but i cant figure out why it doesnt work here.

Check your directx drivers. Did you install from the installer?

Do you have any codec packs (k-lite etc.) installed by chance? There are also reports that this problem occurs in connection with some XviD versions.

Well you can try to deinstall (and reinstall) your codecs and see if it has any effect.
I've got also a report on the german side that VideoLan Client made problems too.

ok, i have entirely uninstalled divx/xvid off my system, and now the preview works great.

can you recommend any divx/xvid codec packages that are known not to interfere with dvd-rb?

No sorry, I can't.
I don't have any problems with the preview nor have I installed DivX/XviD on my system.

I am reviving this thread to see if anyone has come up with any working solutions. (as appose to continuing the other threads further off topic.)

There are a few threads that mention that the Segment Viewer / Editor does not work in Vista. I have a x64 Vista Ultimate install and the only codec pack installed is "Vista Codec Pack" by shark007. (I also have the x64 components he released as well.

All I get like many others is a blank screen on the segment viewer / preview window with no activity (play head does not move either).

Any suggestions, or perhaps descriptions of your set-ups with Vista that do work (codec packages or codec versions numbers, etc..) would be greatly appreciated by many of us.

Thanks

I do not have Vista but disableing xvidvfw.dll (I used mmcompview to do this) got rid of problem of the segment editor viewer not working for me.

mmcompview (from http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/mmview.html) allows easy disableing/enabling of individual codes to help track down the problem. I did not have to even restart RB to see the impact of changes.

See http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=92439&

Installing the lastest v6.6.1 divx video codec from www.divx.com did not cause any problems for me.

PERFECT!! This worked for me exactly as you described.

What exactly is xvidvfw.dll for? since it fixed my blank preview problem and doesnt seem to affect xvid playback with windows media player (v11 or classic)

Thanks johnnyquid! :goodpost:

It worked for me too johnnyquid, under Vista. I've added your post to the FAQ thread.
