I'm not sure what's wrong, as I've used xvid extensively in the past without any problems. I stopped using it for awhile and recently began encoding again, but VirtualDubMod would crash. It crashes both when I do compressibility tests and when I do actual encodings.

Gordian Knot gives me this error, found in the "LastCompCheck_Gknot.log" file.

11:39:35 AM: Started Xvid - First Pass: C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\LastCompCheck.avs
11:46:04 AM: *************************************
11:46:04 AM: EXCEPTION: Cannot create file "D:\Downloads\Windows XP\programs\Video\VirtualDubMod\LastJob.vcf". The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process
11:46:04 AM: EXCEPTION: Encoder Thread Terminated.
11:46:04 AM: *************************************

I've tried deleting that file "LastJob.vcf", but it creates it again and the error shows up again. I don't know how this error has come about. I've tried installing the new version of VirtualDubMod, but it's given me the same issue.

Thanks for any help.
