I don't think it is possible to use x264.exe with GK since GK does not support command line interface.

So there are two possibilities: either use program other than GK (basically any GUI with x264 CLI support, e.g. MeGUI, AutoMKV or StaxRip)
OR
Download and install x264 in VFW interface which is supported by GK. You can grab x264 vfw from here (http://deaththesheep.uni.cc/).

Thanks, VfW works fine. I got confused because Doom9 guide (MPEG-4/x264) links to .exe build download, so I thought I should somehow use that one. Now I'm a bit smarter :)
