Mpeg Custom Matrices and Compatibility SA

I wanted to place a question about the use of Mpeg Custom Matrices.
Preputting that in matter I have found few documentations,
I have used some times and I have noticed that not always they are compatibility with Stand Alone Divx readers.

example HVS-1.5 no

Now I ask to you if there is a Mpeg Custom Matrices's list compatibility SA?
Why one matrix is compatibility and the other no?
Why to use a no compatibility matrix?
Which it is the advantage?

Not really a matter of SAP compatiblity since there are several different chipsets in use and even more different firmwares.

Why this problem isn't there with MPEG Standard and H.263?
They are Matrix,just?

Some SAP chipsets are better than others, none are perfect. Some have quite a few limitations, like no qpel or no q1, as well. Ask the vendor of your model why it isn't supported, and maybe ask or look for an updated firmware that supports it better.

The best route is always to discover the limitations of your SAP's chipset and encode all files to not violate that.

What i've learned with encoding to Xvidfor on my stand-allone is that you can use matrices that are designed for MEPG2 (DVD). You can refer to the matrix editor of DVD-Rebuilder for a nice collection of those.

At this moment i encode @ 3900 kbps with the FOX Entertainment, and no problems at all.

Other settings:
b-frames: 2 max
I+P: Qmin=2, Qmax=4
B:Qmin=2, Qmax=5
Q_offset=1.62
