Hi

I want to improve the quality of recorded home video soundtrack.
The problem is that there's a loud surroundings noises, equal or louder than the speaking.

I converted the audio to wav and tried to use "noise removal" via audacity. But unfortunately it also hurt removed most of the speaking and music form the clip.

Is there another program or technique , to reduce loud surroundings noises?

Thanks

Is the source in mono or stereo? If it's stereo, you may be able to remove some of the noises if they are isolated to one part of the stereo spectrum. The end result might be mono but at least the noises would be gone. You could always restore a bit of ambience with a small amount of reverb. Try listening to each channel individually. If that doesn't help. Try converting the stereo file to M/S format using a VST plugin that does this. Then see if the noises occur more in one track than the other. If they do, you may be able to remove the noise on just that track and then convert back from M/S to LR.

Experiment and see what happens. The more you do with this kind of thing, the better you'll get at doing it.

Steve.
