My brother keeps telling me that someone told him that "the AACS keys have changed" with this movie and that I will have to re-rip it when the software updates arrive. AFAIK, the only reason PowerDVD will not play the mounted ISO with AnyDVD HD loaded is because it needs an update for this particular movie. I don't want to start over with this and I don't want to waste time ripping it if he's right. So who's right?

Keep in mind that I am not a BD user.

Make sure that you are using the most up to date PowerDVD (build 2911, and yes, updating is a whole long story). Then PowerDVD should play back this movie. If you are ripping it, make sure to copy the certificates folder as well, if it's on the disc.

Regarding the "AACS keys have changed".... yes, they have. But new processing key was already obtained. If you ripped the movie already, and you have a decrypted version that plays, you don't need to re-rip anything again, since the files you have are no-longer protected, and thus are unaffected.

The only catch I can think of is that BDMV specifies that the data have to be encrypted, and thus the fact that PowerDVD playes it back is a bug that became a feature. This feature can go away in future PowerDVD updates 8-(

Yes, it does! Thanks. Unfortunately, I can't browse the disc to copy a certificates folder and AnyDVD stupidly does not give me the option. I can see it when "file browsing" in PowerDVD, but that doesn't get me anywhere. I know that I need a UDF2.5 file system driver, but no one has told me what includes it or where to obtain/buy one. Not even a mention of the driver's name or driver-provider. ARGH!

I was getting stuck on "Loading" with this disc. I ripped it to my hard drive (decrypted) and when I tried to play it with PowerDVD, it would just say loading. So I uninstalled PowerDVD and then tried to install the latest version, which fails with the error "1628 failed to complete isntallation." Which is apparently some arbitrary windows error.

So I used gdsmux included with haali media splitter to mux the avc video and one of the audio tracks into an mkv. Then it played perfectly in media player classic using coreavc.

I have successfuly ripped this disc to my hard drive in file format. It plays fine for me the PDVD 2911

My problem is now I want to make an iso of this file and haven't been able to do it as of yet.

I have 10 other of my blu ray discs ripped in file format and I was able to create a working iso of them fine using the latest nero.

The problem seems to be in the certificate file which must be next to the BDMV file in order for the movie to play in file mode.
If I point to the parent folder, which contains both BDMV and Certificate I get an error from PDVD saying it doesn't recognize the file format.
Creating the iso without the certificate (pointing Nero to BDMV, which I've done for all of my other working isos) and the iso loads and won't play.

I do not have anydvd installed. Would this help?

That should help with the PowerDVD problem. Not sure what the "Windows Cleanup Tool" step is for because mine did not have anything in the list to remove. Yours might because you have already encountered the crash.

AnyDVD HD is not being stupid at all: if you have one of the most recent versions (6.1.5.9 and up), you will not be needing the CERTIFICATE folder, as AnyDVD removes the requirement for this folder completely on the fly.
So there would be no point in "stupidly presenting" such an option :)

So: all you need is the BDMV folder, just like with all other discs.

I'm not sure if it will help, but if your problem really is based on the existence of the CERTIFICATE folder - then my guess would be: yes, AnyDVD HD should help, because you don't need the certificate folder anymore.

(just to make sure, you know: you'd need to (re-)rip with AnyDVD, to be able to omit that folder).

I've found that sometimes with Anydvd open it stops me from accessing the disc in the drive, so just exit out of it and then copy the folder over

I don't have windows vista (are you kidding? lol). I'm running windows xp x64. Regardless, when I was poking around on google trying to find out what the hell error 1628 was, I downloaded that windows uninstall clean up tool but there were no traces of PowerDVD left on my system. However, I will give it a shot.

Anyway it doesn't matter now since I already watched the film after muxing the audio and video into an mkv.

Also if you want to burn the film back to a blu-ray disc so you can watch your back up and protect the original it doesn't work with the way Anydvd HD now rips,. Screen just goes black and nothing happens
