What is it I need ?

I have downloaded some films and have trouble playing them in Media Player. Some of them are DivX , CAM , TS , etc....
None of these plays on my Win Media Player.JPEG movies are fine.

What is it I need in order to play the movies ?

I'm sure you don't got divx4.2 because that doesn't exist (yet). And no.. it may not do.. low quality stuff as you got it is often encoded using crappy audio codec like divx audio

Sorry , I meant 4.12 .

Well , got the movies , can't see them .I use Morpheus to download the files , wonder how the other users can see them...Probably by using a software I don't have.

Install both DivX 3.11 Alpha and DivX 4.12 from Doom9's software archive and you should be able to watch those files.

Still doesn't work.
I can see files that are Movie file(MPEG)
I cannot see Video clip .
The strange thing is , that in the files properties I can see the following:

Frame rate 9 frames/sec
Data rate 55 kbps
Video sample size 1 bit
Video compression Uncompressed

I thought that those files are using DivX compresson ?

I am using Win XP.

No , it looks like the movie is playing , but no sound or picture.

they could be fakes

there is a rash of fake videos being posted all over ht enet, some of them are entirely black screens, some have an audio track some do not. that could be the problem.


try opening one of these files in virtual dub (dl'd off of doom9's dl page), and if it is a good files, it will open and you can search trhoufghout the movie.

if it won't open in vdub, then its not a valid avi, or it is damaged too badly to be viewed.

post any error messages you get here, or we can't help you anymore
