V for Vendetta HD DVD problem

Sorry I posted this in another thread too but I wanted to get a quick reply.....

I've just rented V for Vendetta on HD DVD and ripped the two PEVOB.EVO files onto my hard drive to watch the movie. The files are there (around 7-8 Gb in size each) but they wont play in Cyberlink Power DVD 6.5 (HD DVD version). I have had success playing my "Forbidden Planet" and "King Kong" HD DVD discs in this way but cant do it for this one. The files open for a couple of seconds, make a weird high pitched scratchy audio sound and then stop playing. I really want to watch this film too. Any help is much appreciated.

P.S. the player is the Xbox 360 HD DVD player connected to a Pentium D 3.2 GHz computer which plays HD material all the time quite happily. Graphics card is Nvidia Geforce 6200 turbocache, 512 RAM and is running via VGA.

PDVD 6.5 will NOT play V for Vendetta.
PDVD 7.x will.

As of ripping rented HD DVDs, I am not sure this forum approves such actions.

V for Vendetta has IME, which means there is a subvideo and -audio channel. PowerDVD V6.5 does not play this correctly if you directly play the EVO file. The solution is to also copy and modify the playlist file and other related files (VTI and MAP) and play as HD-DVD from your HDD.

In my country copying rented media is perfectly legal, as long as your goal is to watch/listen the media (and not give it to the neighbour or friends, or even worse sell it). Since you rented the media, you have paid to watch/listen it. I always did this when I a rented a DVD, just put it on my HDD temporarily, and burn it to a +RW to watch it at a later time. This way I could return the disks in time (usually the next day) and still watch it when I wanted (and not necessarily that same evening).

Until Cyberlink does a "trial" version of PowerDVD Ultra I'm not spending $99 only to find it doesnt work with my system. I've already spent hundreds of pounds on my system.
I will watch the movie and then delete it.
