The build of x264 available from there is really quite old, you can download the latest build from here:
http://cef.neuf.fr/x264/
Cef keeps the builds up to date, the have the aq patch applied, and they are a little faster than other builds available!

now i keep getting two errors
1. it says it cant load avisynth.dll
2. says there no function named DGDecode_mpeg2source
seeing as i work from home, comp will buy me vista64 - is there no one that can help out on encoding on x64, i have done a few of the suggestions found on these forums but none seem to help, if its a case of compiling on x64 if someone tells me what i need and how to set it up i will help in that way

The toolchain needs to be the same so.
64bit dgdecode, 64bit avisynth--> 64bit encoder.
or 32bit versions of the above.
Also, I don't know about others but anything 64bit from me is tested under XP x64, not Vista.

i encode all my stuff with xp x64. the difference is, i only use the std 32bit apps, since there is no complete toolset for x64.
if everything is ported nicely, i'll move on to the 64bit versions ;)

is there any speed up on x64 using std 32bit apps - a stupid question im sure but if there is no performance increase i see little point in using x64 - things work now and a re-install is not what i need atm ;)
