As one of my clients is currently looking for a Codec Engineer with strong experience in regards to algorithms development, I would like to share this exciting opportunity with you. Please take a moment to review the enclosed job description below.
My client, in San Jose, CA, is an exciting new start-up out to change the world. Sure, lots of people say that, but they mean it. They are going to fundamentally change the way people use their mobile devices. Bold claim? Sure, but their investors believed them. Perhaps you should check it out for yourself. Which brings us to... Brilliant, energetic, motivated. Never shies away from a challenge. Is this what you would post to an online dating service? Probably not. However, if this describes you, you are their kind of people.
No mobile story would be complete without multimedia. Multimedia performance is a key component in our service. This job is all about getting down in the dirt with audio and video encoders and decoders. We are not talking - "I used ffmpeg to convert an mp3 file." We are talking - "Yeah, x264 is okay, but my code runs at half the bit rate." You need to OWN this stuff! You will be working on end-to-end video optimization to mobile devices. Many souls have perished on that journey, you will prevail.
So, you think you have what it takes? Check the following: SIMD, H.264, AAC, CBR, VBR, TCP, UDP, RTP. What about quantum tunneling? Just kidding on the last one, but can you talk at length about the pros and cons of the rest? We need someone who is not afraid to write their own video encoder (and probably has!) Is this you? You should have 6 to 10 years of experience, with a Bachelors or Masters degree.
