Hello,

I've been encoding a lot of anime recently. I've noticed on a few of the discs that there is this high pitched tone when anyone is speaking. On the 10 disc series that I recently did, 3 of them had this problem. The tone is also present in the original AC3 file. I have also noticed it a few times on anime encodes that I didn't do.

My question is: is this a common problem and is there anyway I can get rid of it? I'm currently ripping the audio from the VOBs with DGIndex, if that matters.

Thank you.

For R2 DVDs yes, it is common. Most people try to avoid those also for poor video mastering. R2 Japan are usually the best for encoding purposes.
However you can quite easily correct pitch with various programs (either on the fly with Reclock, or by reencoding). For reencoding Sony vegas, soundforge are good and failry easy, but the free avisynth does a good job too. Read documentions to see how.
