Turning a MDK file into DVD

I have the complete Heroes series in x264 format @ about 1GB each episode 23 all together. I would like to place them all on DVD-DL. I don't want to lose any quality. Which program would be recommended? I tried AVI2DVD and WINAVI and I had no luck. I did have TMPG and I used to use that but it took way too long to convert. I heard I need to convert to VOB then I could use Nero to burn to DVD?

Well they must have come from a Dual Layer DVD, most commercial ones are, why do you want to put them back on to one?

Oh wait, that particular show hasn't been released on DVD yet. Wasn't the finale this weekend?

I have a PVR on my CPU! There's nothing illegal about that! I just wanna convert it to DVD-DL so I can watch it on my big screen.

I apologise. I guess I shouldn't jump to conclusions like that.

What is an MDK file? Do you mean an MKV, Matroska, file? You could use DGAVCDecode (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=122598) to decode the AVC files for AviSynth. Then you can use any filters you need and then load it into your encoder.

This isn't the place for DVD authoring questions. You might want to ask in the MPEG-2 encoding forum for advice on encoders and encoding options. But as with most formats, good quality will take time.

Well, so why did you convert them to MKV in the first place? (I guess you mean MKV, I've never heard of MDK before) You should have burned the original TS streams to DVD directly. Right?

But I guess it is just a big coincidence that you can find Heroes episodes in MKV format on many torrent trackers.

BTW, what brand and model number of Personal Video Recorder do you have as part of your computer setup?

I personally encode my episodes to Xvid in an MKV container. However, sometimes my brother or his friend want to watch it and I end up having to encode it to DVD so they can watch it upstairs.

The best way to do H.264 is to extract the elementary stream from the .MKV using MKVMerge and the MKVExtractGUI. The MKVExtractGUI extracts the elementary stream. Google to find these programs. Once you've extracted the elementary stream, then use DGAVCDec to create a .dga file and use AVCSource to open it in avisynth.

ConvertX2DVD by VSO. It does a wonderfull job.
