Hello,

I have been using MeGui for some time now. I tried a few profiles and they give nice quality. I now mainly use HQ SLOW.

The Problem I have that in dark area's or dark shadow's I see macroblocks. I have been playing with the x264 settings but no good results. My rips are absolutly fine just the blocks in dark area's.

Could you offer some advice which parameters to adjust to get rid of this?

Thanks

You can tick off the setting "No Fast P-Skip" it's for that very reason (large areas of solid colour).

Try the next profile up too (HQ-Slower), it's the best balance of quality/speed IMO, you still need to tick off No Fast P-Skip though. There's a couple more things you can do with HQ-Slower to improve it, but if the encoding time isn't worth it (I remember it taking half a day on a P4) don't worry. :)
