View Full Version : Pyro A/V Link - No Sound with VFW, Nothing with WDM

I purchased an ADS Pyro A/V Link API-557 awhile back and have jumped through a ridiculous amount of hoops trying to get it working without much to show for my efforts. I'm trying to record from my Xbox 360 over component video, and I get video in VirtualDub using VFW but no sound. With the WDM driver, it connects to the card but says capturing can't start when I tell it to record. I also get an unknown error trying to record with Windows Media Encoder, and none of the other dozen WDM capturing programs I've tried work.

My computer is a Gateway 450ROG (notebook). I'm running Windows XP SP2 and I have DirectX 9.0c and the latest video drivers from Gateway's site. The video card is an ATI Mobility Radeon 7500. Not sure what other information is needed to figure out the problem.

Anybody have an idea of how to fix this?

Try using WinDV (http://windv.mourek.cz/) to grab the video to a .avi file.

Try using WinDV (http://windv.mourek.cz/) to grab the video to a .avi file. That was one of the programs I already tried. I'll try it again as soon as possible so I can tell you exactly what happens.

I was finally able to try it on another computer, and it worked. So, I've come to the conclusion that the video card in my laptop is just too old.
