View Full Version : Generation of Vidcaps in a Batch-like Manner ???

If you look a DVD Video via a computer DVD program you can take at certain points / positions screencaps of that DVD video.
But if you want to take screencaps of a whole video sequence / segment, say from minute 10:35 to 16:43, it's very hard to take each of these numerous vidcaps manually (by clicking at the appropriate buttons).

So, I wonder: Is there any program or script that generates vidcaps of a whole DVD video sequence in a batch-like manner?

Please, give me some hints and tips!

Thanks very much in advance!

Avisynth can be cajoled into such a thing, with some combination of avisource/mpeg2source/directshowsource, trim, selectevery, and imagewriter. Avsp can help. (In fact you could also do it all in avsp's macros if you like python.)

There are other ways, but most of them are much more hackish.

@pemno08642

Hi!

Please clarify - Do you want to capture the segment as video or as separate still frames?

Hi,

thanks very much for your answers!

Do you want to capture the segment as video or as separate still frames

I want to capture the DVD video segment not as a video (not as moving pictures) but as several distinct pictures / frames (*.bmp - *.jpg - or what ever).

Roughly, I want a picture of DVD video at min 12:11:01, and at min 12:11:02 and at min 12:11:03 ... and so on.

Any further hints and tips would be much appreciated!

Have a nice weekend!

Use TMPGEnc as follows:

1) Drag and drop a .VOB onto the main TMPGEnc window

2) File>>Output to File>>Sequence BMP/PPM/TGA/JPG file
