View Full Version : Pixelization issues: Is DVD corrupted?

I'm experiencing some pixelization when I burn to a DVD (el-cheapo brand someone unfortunately gave me as a gift). When I watch the DVD on my standalone player hooked up to my TV, I get the pixelization, however if I watch it through my computer, I don't see it.

What is the real issue here? Has the data been corrupted on my burned DVD? Or is it just my player, in combination with cheapo DVD media.

I'm wondering and somewhat worried here. I've burned some home video's to this cheapo stuff, and have since deleted the original AVI's, so I don't want to think it's ruined for good!

Is it really the media? I don't think so. If you are converting from AVI to DVD, do you watch the vobs in your computer *before* burning it onto DVD-/+R?

When I watch the DVD on my standalone player hooked up to my TV, I get the pixelization, however if I watch it through my computer, I don't see it.Sounds like the only problem you have, presently, is the interaction of your standalone player and the poor quality media.

Since you mention that this poor (physical) quality burned DVD is now the ONLY PC-compatible version you have of your home movies (Common sense would have dictated that you not delete your source .AVI since you were skeptical about the quality of the burnable media), I'd suggest you:

1) Immediately copy the burned DVD to your hard drive
2) Get some high quality burnable media (Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, etc.) and burn a new copy
