Scharfis_brain offered a script (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=122788) to deal with another old VHS cap that worked out very well, but it didn't work with this one.
I've got this homemade DVD from someone else's VHS cap, which has some rare material in pretty poor quality, but it's rare enough that i'm willing to work with the crappy source. I'd like to write a script to use with VDubMod to convert to an XviD (non-interlaced) avi file. Here's a 10-second clip (6.3 MB):

There's a heckuva lot of combing -- in every frame, not just alternating frames -- and TDeint with or without EEDI2 didn't get rid of it (no surprise). I was able to get rid of it with McBob and with SecureBob, but I couldn't see much difference in the results of the two, so the extra time for McBob didn't seem justified.
There's also some strange discoloration, yellowish smearing that seems to be in alternating frames (in the source). Is this part of "chroma shift"? Please excuse my noobie ignorance. Is there any way to correct or lessen this smearing with avisynth filters?
I'd appreciate any suggestions re how to best clean up this material, too. Whatever denoisers and tweaking you can suggest would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
