DivX to DivX

I have downloaded an item that claims to be DivX on it's opening screen. InfoMedia says its a XivD. It plays find in English on my computer. When I convert it to a real DivX with ImToo Converter it plays in French.
What can the matter be?

No help with downloaded files per forum rule 6 and this:

The onus is on you when posting to make clear if the referenced material is legit. You didn't so the presumption goes against you.
