How can I open in VirtualDub some *.AVI files using another VFW decoder than actually VDub opens ? Where can I change priority of codecs ?

I think vfw goes in alphabetical order down the drivers32 key, so either renaming or removing certain codecs would be the only way (if they don't offer an option like ffdshow).

Unless I'm completely misunderstanding your question - It's my understanding that VirtualDub opens the .AVI using the codec indicated in the .AVI's header. Therefore, if you change the "FOURCC" information in the .AVI's header, VirtualDub should (try) to open the .AVI using the new "FOURCC" information...

Or you could try ticking "Ask for extended options after this dialog" when in the open video file screen and specify a video format FOURCC and video codec handler FOURCC for the codec you want.

Sometimes 2 or more codecs instaled in my system have ability to open (for example) xvid (FourCC).In FFDshow (VFW) and others I can turn it on or off internally. What can I do when some codecs have not this option ? What can I change in system register ?

You can use VCSwap (http://members.chello.nl/~p.bekke/index.html) to selectively disable and reenable VFW codecs.
