AC3 Messes Up Video

First, I use GordianKnot. The movie itself is two minutes shy of two hours. I had wanted to go for 1CD with MP3 audio but the bitrate would be too low for my liking (~550KB/s). So I decided to go for a 2CD rip with MP3 audio. This would've had a bitrate of ~1430KB/s, which I thought was a bit overkill, so I decided to use AC3 audio. This made the bitrate (2CD's) ~1200KB/s which I was happy with. The video encoding went well. But when I used Nandub to join the AC3 with the video I hit problems. The movie wouldn't play. I could move the slider around in Media Player and it would show the frame where it should be...but it wouldn't play. I also tried using GordianKnot and muxing the audio/video together during the encoding, but I had the same problem.

I still haven't been able to resolve this problem. I even tried ripping the AC3 again and still had the same problem.

Why mux with such an outdated app? Use Avimux GUI or something a bit more up to date.

AC3 isn't messing up your video, either your encoding is goofed up, or the muxing went wrong somehow.

I just tried muxing with Avimux and have the exact same problem. I would think the encoding is fine since I can watch the video before I add the audio. But I don't have a clue as to where the muxing is going wrong. :confused:

See if you can play the raw .AC3 file - if you can't, you may just need to install AC3Filter.

Indeed. Try playing on MPlayer or VLC

I fixed the problem, boy it was pretty dumb. I tested the first encode with AC3 in Media Player Classic and it played perfectly. So then I cut a one minute sample of the AVI and tested it with the regular Media Player on a different computer, and it too played fine. So my Media Player is some how messed up.
