I have 3 VHS-C and 1 SVHS-C. My AG-1980(like new) VCR though it plays all my other VHS tapes very good surprisingly it won't on the smaller version (with adapter)... It shows slight color distortion. Does anyone here has a solution? my SLV-R1000 can play VHS-C tapes normal but the quality of the AG even with color distortion surpasses it in detail.

generally (S-)VHC-C tapes won't play back well in standard (S-)VHS-VCRs.

You have to obtain a device that can play back (S-)VHS-C without adapter (a (S-)VHS-C-Camcorder).

This is due to slight different specifications of VHS vs VHS-C.

The VHS-C to VHS mechanical adapter is just a makeshift (workaround) to at least see SOMETHING using a standards VHS-VCR. The adapter isn't suited for archival or copying purposes.

I had a good SVHS-C camcorder but the video head is damage... ¿What is your suggestion? Is there a deck that can playback VHS-C tapes with the quality equivalent to the AG?
