cce speed

hi everyone!!!! i have heard that cce is suppose to be the quickest svcd encoder out there. However I am finding that CCE seems to encode at a normal speed and is not that quick. I have a celeron II
600 MHZ, 128 MB RAM and WINDOWS 2000 professional edition. Right now the computer is encoding a 80 minute movie and it will probably take 11 hours to finish. The speed that CCE is encoding it is at 0.117
I am not encoding any audio and will be doing that seperately with toolame.

Is CCE suppose to encode video faster than this????
do the settings that i put in cce affect the speed??? if so which arguments affect the speed the most??? thanks for your help

I am running a 1.3ghz with 512mb of ddr and a raid controller and i too found CCE to be slow, so now i use LSX. I can flask a movie into a mpg video stream with ac3 audio under 4 hours.

Dual P3-700@933 with 512mb ram. I average 1.25
2 Hour movie from rip to burn in about 2 1/2 hours.

I get realtime encoding or faster with CCE. With TMPGenc same encode will take 6-7 hours.

CCE gives the best performance and has the best quality.

Dump the Celeron, increase the ram and get a faster hard drive are some of the things you can do to increase performance.

what output file type are you doing? mpg? If so, what type of settings are you using? and is it DVD compliant to play on a stand alone player? I have both cce and lsx plugin, but found cce to be slower, maybe its my settings.

Well, here is an example. I took the DVD "Fast and Furious", Flasking with xmpeg and using cce plugin. I have 4.3gigs to work with since i am going to put it on DVD. I set the video to 720x480/29.97 and audio ac3 output. I am not in front of that computer at the moment, but i think i have CCE set at DVD compliant, i tried both constant and vbr 1 pass appx 7000 bit rate. Gop every vob and everything else at its default.

The flask part of the job says appx 3-4hours, but the cce plugin says something crazy like 53hours. I dont know if this is a true number because i always stop the flask when i see such a long time. AT least with the LSX plugin, when flask is done, ITS DONE!

Is the cce plugin time remaining a true reading??

AMD Tbird 1Ghz@1250 w/512 SDRAM on SIS735 MB, and a fresh install of WinXP.

Using Doom's DVD2AVI+CEE method (3 pass VBR) I average around 1.2 for the .vaf creation pass, and 1.0 for the other passes (or maybe that's backward).

Standard SVCD 480x480, 23.976fps, no audio, Progressive frames, Linear quantizer scale, and Zigzag scanning order enabled, anti-noise filter off, other settings at default. Bitrates ranged from average 1550-2200, but I didn't see an effect on the encoding speed. I also place the source and destination on seperate drives, which should speed things up.
