Hi, Im new here, my 5 days probation is up : )
I've got a problem with audio transferred from a video cassette to a DVD. I played this video tape on 3 different players and it only has about 25% audio content but on the tape owners player it has audio content all the way through. I dont get it can anybody explain this? The owners player is a player built into a TV, nothing fancy. Any wisdom appreciated.

You're confusing us. You say you made a transfer to DVD and then talk about problems with playing the tape! Can you please clarify? If it is the DVD transfer that is faulty, then how did you make that transfer?

There's something called "azimuth" that is bascially the angle between the tape head and the tape. It's such a fine facotry adjustment that no two VCRs will perform exactly the same. If the tape has deteriorated, it may still be playable on the original machine that recorded it, but not on a different player.

Ask the tape's owner if you can borrow his player as well!

Thank you both for your replies.
To clear up any confusion, the finished DVD did not have all the audio on it. IOW, maybe 75% of what was on the VHS tape.
When the owner of the VHS tape pointed out to me that not all of the audio had been transferred,I took the VHS tape and played it back on 3 different players. The audio was the same as on the DVD. I went to the owners house, he played it on his player and there was much more audio. I am baffled. The owners player was not used to make the recording, so I think that rules out any azimuth issues.
To make the transfer I took the audio & video outputs of a VHS player into a Canopus box and then into the computer.
The problem is occuring before the signal gets to the Canopus box or the computer, 3 different VHS players are not outputting all of the audio and a fourth bog standard player (built into a TV) is.
