Now I am trying to convert a DVD to avi file, but I met one problem. The audio part is ac3 with 5.1 channel. I do not know how I can encode this to 2 channels.

Go here (http://www.vidomi.com/) and download the vidomi encoder, it can do both Video+Audio with ease and they have documentation available on the site.

@garyfong

Hi!

In addition to the other suggestions already offered, you can use MPEG Mediator to accomplish this...

@garyfong
Please edit your title as suggested by Jikchung.
Also, this sub-forum deals more with AVI to DVD solutions rather than DVD to AVI.

I think the subject area of this question is perhaps more suited to Newbies. Thread moved.

Right, Vidomi has no compatibility with any build more recent than the 2002 version with which it comes bundled. AutoGK would be far simpler.

I dont see a cause for concern for it, use a custom install unselecting the old Xvid and install the newer version of codec manually.

The "cause for concern" is that Vidomi will not work with newer versions of Xvid. One could uninstall the newer Xvid and install Vidomi with its bundled version, but what you recommended will make Vidomi useless on the system.
