Problems demuxing

I don't know anymore what to do to demux this file...

VDub: System crashes when start encoding (adding subs)

TMPEG (Source Creator, Enc and Xpress): Cannot deal with the file. Xpress says that there is a problem with the video and can work only with the audio...

Total Video Converter: Makes 3 mpeg files that no other program can do anything to them...

dvd was ripped and xvid encoded, and now i want to cut some pieces to burn another dvd to carry on the car... (video music collection)

Hi!dvd was ripped and xvid encodedJust re-rip your original DVD - and then use DVD Shrink's "Re-Author mode" to select the pieces...

U just need to open Notepad, type the code that Blue_misfit mentioned to u, then save the notepad file as File.avs. Remember to keep the extension .avs instead of .txt....then just open the avs file u just created in media player to check if the movie is playing.

It's hard to believe, or understand why, for at least three days you continue to seek information on alternative methods to resolve your problem, when you could have simply re-ripped your original DVD - as I suggested three days ago...

I have simple reasons for that...

1) The original DVD is lent to my brother-in-law... So, right now I haven't it here with me..
2) It's not the first time i have this problem... This time I have the dvd, but several others I don't... So it might be nice to know how to solve that..
3) Learning is always good... I'm never tired of...

How big is the AVI file?

(And... is it legal for you to convert and keep an movie as avi if you don't own the DVD?)
