View Full Version : Timestretch ac3 with BeHappy: adds 4 hours to the stream? Help?

I'm trying to transcode audio from an HD-DVD... going DD+ 7.1 ultimately to a 5.1 ac3 file.

People have noticed a progressive desync issue with this method, basically the audio and video can be as much as several seconds off from each other, and the solution seems to be to squeeze the audio by that small ratio so the length of audio vs. video are closer.

If I simply load my avs file into BeHappy and apply no timestretch, I get roughly the proper length (2 hours or so). If I add an amplification, it also comes out the proper length.

I then try to add a "Timestretch" ratio. Since I don't understand the "custom" dialog, I used a ratio:

This gets me (on paper, anyway) close to the right length... the only problem is when I run it, the resulting file is 6 hours long!

The first 2 hours of the ac3 is the movie, seemingly a proper playback rate. It's followed by 4 hours of silence.

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Or is it just BeHappy being dumb? (My bets are that it's me).

Thanks...

1) To analyze the problem please:
- Put your input avs
- Channel number and exact length of audio input and output (or bitrate and filesize)

2) The custom method is easy: you have an 1:01:09 = 3669 seconds audio, but want stretch to 1:01:01 = 3661 seconds
Then:
(actual_time / desired_time) x 100 = (3669/3661)x100 = 100.21852 is your custom value.

3) BTW try cut the ac3 output, with DelayCut, at desired length and see if is in sync.
