Chips on DVDs could prevent theft (of physical disks)

With all the fury over digital theft, I was surprised to see this:

I mean really, who the hell shoplifts a DVD?
Just seems like it wouldn't be that big of a problem, but I guess it is.

Sounds like some cool technology, tho.
