Audio sync problems with Nero

I've been having a problem with the audio getting out of sync with the video when using nero. I have tried Nero 6 ultra (latest version) and now I'm using Nero 7 version 7.8.5.0.
My system is a Compaq Presario sr2032x, AMD Athlon64 3500, 1GB RAM.
First let me explain my intended project. What I want to do is take 2 .avi movies and burn them on one dvd5 disc, and have them be playable on any dvd player. I also want a basic menu for navigation (movie 1, movie 2, play all). I have been able to accomplish this with Nero Vision, however, it usually comes out ok for the first movie and part of the second movie, but then the audio will become out of sync. At first I thought that the problem might be with the converting to VOB, so I tried the same project, using VSODivxToDVD to convert the avi's first, with the same results. I also tried burning to the hard drive and then burning the disc from the hard drive using CopyToDVD, same result.
I get good results when I convert with VSODivxToDVD and burn with CopyToDVD, however, I don't get any menus.
If anyone can offer some help solving this, I would greatly appreciate it, or if you know of another way for me to accomplish my objective, that too would be appreciated as I'm a newbie who is doing his best to learn about working with video.
By the way, I have also tried using DVDit ProHD, but for some reason, when I import the avi media (two 700MB movies), the project becomes wayyyy oversized (14GB@8000kbs) and I have to lower the bitrate to 2100kbs or so, and the finished project does not look so good.....HELP!!!

I had that problem and could never fathom out why. When I searched the Internet, I got loads of suggestions and remedies, none of which worked. It was as if the audio and video were running at very slightly different speeds so that the audio got progressively out of sync as you moved through the recording.

The best I could find out was that lots of people have that problem with Nero Vision and cannot solve it.

Incidentally, I was starting with VOB files.

I ended up using DVD-Lab pro. That did the job OK. If you use DVD-Lab Pro to create a DVD with VOB files that have previously been cropped using DVDShrink, you might have to de-mux the VOB files on import, and ascertain and insert the audio delay values, otherwise there can be issues with the time counter on playback and/or a constant sync problem.

You should be able to readily accomplish your goal by using the excellent freeware program, "DVD Flick"...

Thanks setarip_old, I tried it and was happy with the quality, but I still don't have a basic navigation menu. Any thoughts on how I can achieve that? I would like to go straight to the movie/episode of my choice, even more important now that I am combining 3 or 4 one hour episodes onto one disc.

If anyone can point me to some video stream which causes sync problem when encoding to DVD with Nero Vision, let me know. I just tried one xvid/mp3->DVD with NV and had no sync problem.

(you have to encode your DVD compliant mpeg2 stream with something else like quenc)
