AOL in2tv hosts completely free TV shows, but the license handling seems to prevent DRM removal. Windows Media Player can't even play them once you're signed up, meaning playback (for these totally free! videos) has to be done thorugh AOL's "Video Player", which is a glorified Internet Explorer window. Might anyone have notice that AOL "HQ" videos - the In2TV section - have the same KID in multiple files? This seems to make drm2wmv just a tad unhappy since the actual keys are different. The headers in the file differ only in a <CID> </CID> tag which is sent to get the license.
Since the license is one-time-use, I think this is a valid scenario.
Oddly enough wmplayer will not use the wrong license!
With two files of the same KID, play one in AOL's browser
Play the same file with wmplayer -- it should play
try to play the other file with AOL's browser - gets license errors
play file A in aol's browser,
try to play file B with wmplayer - doesn't find license?!
should drm2wmv have a CID tag as well? Is the CID associated with the License store or is it only available during transfers.
This is the only real mention on doom9 and as a newbie, I apologize if I've missed something integral or obvious to removing DRM for these. Is there a solution? Or does this one-time use preclude ever getting the license and eliminating it? Even using the Fu4WM concurrently with playback gets nothing, and as long as AOL is forcing you to watch the Hi-Q content through Internet Explorer, the quality is going to be unwatchable and choppy on slower machines. This is why I'm investigating removal for these completely free videos.
