Hi,

I am trying to create my own dvd's using footage I capture on my Studio DC10+ (MJPEG 720x540 PAL) card and convert to MPEG2 (720x576) in CCE. I have tried all variations of field orders i.e upper, lower, progressive, progressive upper, progressive lower and have gone with field A as it appears to be the best. My problem is that even though field A looks the best there is still slight flickering on the video and its not even in fast action scenes, some scenes like close ups are clear and have no visible flicker however when the camera pulls back to full screen you start to notice flickering again.

As i am doing the coversion on a win2k pc and the DC10+ card does not work in win2k (yet) I use the Morgan Multimedia codec to decompress the video for encoding (i take it CCE must use this to read the file).

I have tried all sorts to try to get a flicker free playback but it just wont do it, can anyone ofer any help?

I would really appreciate this as it is really starting to piss me off now, I am wondering if the capture card is doing somthing screwey to the footage (considering buying the dazzle II)

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

tried deinterlacing?

Deinterlacing has resolved the flickering but it has reduced the crispness of the video :( why should it need deinterlacing if it is being displayed on a tv? its a real pain cause deinerlacing is going to take ages and will increase on an already very long process. Does everyone else deinterlace when burning to dvd?

I know this is not helping you much in the short term, but if you will be doing this often, go for a real-time MPEG2 encoder card. The DVCII works fine and it's reasonably cheap, although it can be a pain to install

I have just bought the DVC II card and am extremly happy with it - thank god no more waiting endless hours for it to encode!!!

Highly recommend the card
