Remove interlaced frames in silent movie

I got a silent palmovie with 16 progressive frames and 8 interlaced frames and 1 duplicate frame. I wonder what are the easiest way to remove the interlaced and duplicate frames? i want a 16fps progressive xvid. Do i have to know the pattern or is there any filter that can do the job for me? I guess im a bit lazy hehe. Tried to search the forum but no post about this.

Real-interlaced or field-shifted? See if something like TFM(pp=0) removes almost all the combing. (Ignoring duplicates.) If it does, great, just use TFM() and start counting dupicates to plug into tdecimate. If not, you might need a deinterlacer like TDeint first.

Silent movies often have much weirder duplicate cycles than they appear to at first, though. If you want to upload 20-60 seconds of the source, someone can let you know for sure.

Been counting dupes on several places in the movie, and they all got the same pattern

where 0 is progressive frame and 1 is dupe. I had hope there was a plugin that could just remove this without me counting but... well. Can i use something like tdecimate(cycleR=9,cycle=25) ? Anyway foxy thanks for great guiding:thanks:

Another way you can sometimes do it is to use metrics:
TDecimate(output="d:\vid\metrics.txt") or whatever.
You can play a few hundred frames then close it, the metrics should make it fairly obvious what are dups and what aren't. You still have to analyse it by hand or with a script, though.

The filter Multidecimate is actually designed for this, I just remembered, it even has a gui to analyse things. You have to do a full first pass, however, compared to just scanning a few frames and running with the pattern in TDecimate.

Thanks for the help on encoding silents. Ive gotten some great help. Tested multidecimate on some movies too (but actually its better for me to just count. i just use tfm or telecide and keep counting and in the end i get what i want). Then suddenly, i got struck with the ugly: a silent ntsc->pal conversion, ghosting and interlacing all over. What to do??? is it possible to fix this at all? ive read the http://www.doom9.org/ivtc-tut.htm by hakko jggimi and manono and they got no real answer to this. Or is there a solution...?

Mrestore or restore24.

Yep, unblend it first at 29.97fps (or 25fps if PAL), figure out the true framerate, and then remove the dupes.
