Hello everyone,
I have a number of DV videos (grabbed from my DV camcorder, edited, and output to DV to maintain most of the original quality) that I'd like to encode into h.264 compatable with blu-ray, and/or hd. I'll also be buying a high-def camcorder soon, and will also want to compress that the same way. (With higher resolution of course.)
Is there a blu-ray or hd profile I can use (for x264) with ffmpegX? I'd rather not have to transcode later, when I actually get a blu-ray or hd player. (For now I'll put them on DVD, and transfer them to blu-ray/hd discs later.)
There's not a lot of options, basically CABAC, b-frames, constant bitrate, i4x4 analysis, trellis, max gop size, qmin/max, avc level and me function. I'm assuming here it is possible for x264 to make a bd/hd compatable encoding.
