Hi

Just have a real strange problem.
Very strange always works never any problem same PC same encoders etc...

The movie "When A Stranger Calls" from Sony! when I do a encode of the end credit only I get a movie that is freezing and unfreezing for the last part of the film (Jagged playback), but if I play the movie source from disk it plays fine.

Could this be somekind of new DVD structure scheme that when you alter the size it start to play funny?

Anybody else who have this problem?

Follow-up...

I took the ORG ripped movie and the one made with DVDrebuilder with the jagged playback and imported both movies into DVDremake

Then I only copy and pasted the re-encoded end-credit part into the ORG movie and exported it.

Now the movie plays fine but the endcredit plays jagged.....
So I think something in the rebuild vob files gives a jagged playback?

Again it could be something in the movie that DVDrebuilder dosent like? they make so many build in errors now especially Sony

...Also tryed a older version of DVDrebuilder v1.23.1 and that does the same...jagged playback starts in chapter 19 and really bad in Chp 21....

I'd need to know what you mean by "jagged playback" -- I can't picture it.

He probably means stuttering/jerky playback?

I also recommend updating HC encoder (http://www.bitburners.com/HC_Encoder/). The latest version is 0.21.

I always use CCE SP never HC :)

And yes I mean stuttering picture (Sound plays okay!)
But again I can live with a stuttering endcredit, but really would like to know why I get this...After so many weldone encodings it can only be something in this movie.

I have ripped it with the newest version of AnyDVD, and it plays perfectly from disk, but I can see alot of errors in the structure of the DVD when loading it into DVDremake.

Next step for me would be to try to delete and correct the movie in DVDremake and then see if DVDrebuilder can encode and revbuild without errors? only thing I can think of trying

Hi. Sometimes I get stutter on a few movies but only if I preprocess with dvd remake pro. I take the same rip put it through dvd rb without prerprocess and no stutter everything o.k. It must be something with dvd remake pro.

Can you sent me your REBUILDER.INI and REBUILDER.INF files (dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com)? Stuttering is usually caused by bitrate issues.

Are you saying the stuttering is happening even on parts other than the end credits (parts that aren't being reencoded)? That would be interesting considering they are only being demuxed and remuxed.

Big Barn

Yes the whole movie stutters. But for Rebuilder ini. the last time was a while ago. I'd have to rip again, I don't have time I'm leaving for work. If I recall the last time it was the movie The night listener.

Yes excatly...
Only encoded the endcredit but got the stuttering from chapter 19-22...Very strange ! no encoding on the movie

Sure will post them when I get home from work.

@casperse

Have you tried it without running through DVD Remake (Big Barn mentioned it only happens when he uses DVD Remake)?

Big Barn

Sorry JDobbs I did not answer your question correctly I have stutter where the movie is encoded.

But preprocessed, right?

Big Barn

Yes
But I always preprocess with dvd remake pro and I get stutter only on a few movies.

DoOes this stuttering show on the playback of DVDFILES in a software player or on your standalone? If the latter only, check media/burn quality.

I'm suspecting it's something to do with the burn cos you did absolutely nothing to chapters 19-22, just the last one as jodobbs said in post 8.

No tested it on PowerDVD and VLC player both show stutter...
Both files on Local HD (ISO image mounted in Daemon and burned DVD showed stuttering)

Has it ever happened on a disc that wasn't preprocessed in some way?

Voodoochild
7th May 2007, 18:34
From reading all posts here, the only one reason make sense is dvdremake. This movie must be tested without any preprocessing and after ripped with ripit4me. Only then further investigation should occur

casperse
7th May 2007, 20:20
But preprocessed, right?

I have done it with NO preprocessing! - only DVDrebuilder (End credits - last chapter only encoded rest blanked) then it still play´s with picture stutter (also chapters before end credit - Sound is okay)

Will send you Files now...

The ripped version is playing fine in both PowerDVD & VLC player....
