Hi

I would like to convert my wedding dvd from 4:3 to 16:9; is this possible without distorting stretching the footage....?

Ifso what software is the best to do this...?

I would also like to brighten the colour, contrast etc.

Please can someone advise on the best software for both...?

Thanks for any help.

DVD-RB will convert 4:3 to 16:9 anamorphic. It will crop the top and bottom of the video, but it will not cause distortion by stretching. Since DVD-RB uses AviSynth you can easily adjust the brightness and contrast.

If you do not want to crop the video, there is an AviSynth filter that will smart stretch the video. The center will be left intact and the sides will be stretched. Sorry but I don't recall the name of the filter.

WarpResize, part of SimpleResize. ffdshow also has a warp resize option, if you need it done through directshow.

There is no best, per forum rule 12. Do not ask questions like that. Thank you.

I wouldn't recommend you to convert 4:3 to 16:9.
Modern 16:9 TVs all have different options to adapt a 4:3 picture to the widescreen format, you don't need to go through the hassle of "hard-widescreening" it, risking to loose important video parts that you wish you never edited out!

Thanks for the help guys...will look into the progs mentioned...do all of these progs also have the abilty to adjust audio properties eg audio mixing + lowering volume level of certain parts of the disc ( I had a mic on and it was a bit loud on certain parts)

Have also come across "powerdirector" does anyone know if this would also convert /warp to 16:9 or would it just crop?

Thanks

If you do convert it, keep the original dvd in case you change your mind in the future.
