Streams produced with pulldown.exe within DVD spec?

I was a good little poster and I searched the forum before asking a question that was already answered. ;)

So I can use pulldown.exe to convert my 23.976 progressive footage into a 29.97 interlaced footage on playback. Great!

Now here's my question (and let me know if this belongs in another forum) will using pulldown.exe to alter my MPEG2 stream be compatible with set-top players?
Also, will DVDAuthor(gui) mangle those pulldown flags?

Pulldown is fully legal and compatible with standalone players. That's how most commerical NTSC DVDs present film material (soft telecine).

I'd be very surprised if DVDAuthor could not work with pulled-down MPEG2, given the right settings.

The main reason for using pulldown is just to make MPEGs compatible with players.

I use GuiforDVDAuthor, which uses the same engine and it works with pulled-down files.

I made my DVD this morning: *drum roll*
Looks excellent!
DVDAuthorGUI didn't mangle the pulldown flags. However I did have a scare for a moment when VLC appeared to ignore the pulldown flags when I played the DVD files--VDub-MPEG2 dispelled my worries.
