Hi
I don't know. Dizzying progress in computing is making us wish for the moon...
Is there any software that would:
1. Start my PC at a specified time
2. Launch my Broadband dialup connection and click "CONNECT"
3. Launch Mozilla Firefox
I know, I know, sounds crazy. But by chance if there is any such software, please let us know.
Regards.

To start up your PC at a preset time you can either:
1)Check the bios to see if you have any "scheduled" power on options - some do.
2) If not, you can use a small service program like "PowerOff", to schedule "wake up" events - but your PC will have to be in a "suspended" state and not really "off".
For the broadband connection, don't you have any option to "automatically" connect when needed?
If not, there are programs to keep ADSL connections alive, it should do the trick (I'm a cable/router user - so, never actually had to use such a program).
Then, you'd only need to schedule firefox to start at a set time, after those events.

Thanks. I've downloaded ADSL Autoconnect 2.0.5. It is supposed to optimize your ADSL connection. Using ADSL Autoconnect, your ADSL connection will open automatically when Windows starts-up. The program will automatically reconnect and the connection can be reinitialized at a specified hourly interval. IP address changes can be sent by e-mail or by ftp post . Will display transfer rates when sending and receiving.
Regarding Firefox, you have advised to "schedule' its startup at a specified time. I was looking for a software that will do all those.
Thanks and regards.
Thanks and regards.

For getting firefox or other programs running at times tou specify you could use the scheduled tasks feature located in the windows control panel.

Yes, Windows already does that - like insomniak1981 said.
Go to control panel->scheduled tasks.
You can create a new one at a preset time, at determined time intervals, or when at logon/power on.

The long and short of what transpires in this thread is this:
1. For starting PC at specified time, there may be a scheduled Power-On option offered by some motherboards. If not, PowerOff may be used to wake a hibernating PC at a specified time.
2. Launching various programs after startup:
2.1. The ADSL Internet connection may be scheduled by ADSLAutoconnect
2.2. Other programs (e.g., Firefox) may be opened by Windows Scheduled Tasks
Thanks very much, and regards.
